Sometimes, life imitates art.
I recently devoured a television series called Six Feet Under. It is based on a quirky family that owns a funeral home. Darkly humourous, it was quietly inspiring with its undertones of death and mortality.
What does it mean to truly live in the moment, knowing that it could all be gone in an instant? Death is but an idea to the young. Full of plans and expectations, they exude invincibility, unaware that amongst the kerfuffle of languid breaths, the spark that wants to build into a paroxysm of fire, the potent force that wants to have new experiences and thus obtain wisdom is slowly fading. The task ahead is to stoke it so it doesn't fizzle and vanish.
'Life is wasted on the living.' All one can hope for is to end up with the right regrets.
Isn't it nice to think that tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet?
